In The Classroom
The "Story Behind the Switch" Presentation
Continental Divide offers a classroom presentation designed to teach youth the following:
- How to be safe around electricity
- How electricity is generated through traditional and renewable resources
- How electricity travels from the power source to the light switches in their homes
- And, how kids can teach their parents to be good stewards of electricity through energy efficiency
The Story Behind the Switch was developed by Basin Electric Power Cooperative and made available through Continental Divide's power provider Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association. The program is geared to fourth- through sixth-grade classes throughout our service territory. It is about an hour long and includes hands-on demonstrations with a Van de Graaff (static electricity) generator, a plasma ball and interactive teaching tools.
With enough advance notice, we can tailor the program to audiences of all ages.
